A Message from the Executive Director:

Governor Jon Corzine has issued a Proclamation declaring Friday, April 4, 2008 "CASA Child Advocate Day" in New Jersey.  The Proclamation was issued
in recognition of CASA's "distinguished record of public service protecting the safety and well-being of New Jersey's abused and neglected children," and noting
that "the court appoints CASA volunteers as officers of the court, helping to improve the quality of information presented to the court and child welfare systems
by acting as the court's eyes and ears in a child's life."  CASA of Burlington County congratulates its volunteers, and the volunteers from the other CASA
programs in New Jersey, for the high honor.

CASA of Burlington County's second class of volunteer child advocates was sworn-in by the Family Court on March 28, 2008.  These advocates
will serve Burlington County children who have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect.  The volunteers will advocate
in Family Court and in the community for the best interests of those children, helping to assure that they receive needed services so that they can quickly find
safe, permanent, nurturing homes, whether that is with their parents or some other permanent caregiver.  The volunteers will serve as the children's voice in court.
The volunteers' commitment of time and energy on behalf of these children is cause for celebration throughout our community.

We are now looking for our next class of volunteer advocates.  Our next training class is scheduled to begin in mid-May .  Please take a moment to consider
becoming a child advocate.  With approximately 400 children living in out-of-home placements in Burlington County, the need is great and the challenges are
large.  We have made tremendous strides over the last few months as CASA of Burlington County began its service, but there is much more to be done.
I hope that you will consider joining us.  An application to become a CASA of Burlington County child advocate are located on the "How to Volunteer" page.

We have extremely grateful to the many people and organizations who have helped to launch this program.  Their generosity is providing us with trainers for our
volunteers, office space, in-kind donations, and financial support has made this program work.  If you are able to do so, we would ask that you consider making
a gift to CASA of Burlington County.  We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation.

Please take a few moments to look around our website to learn more about CASA and how it makes a positive impact on children's lives.  We hope that you
will join us in meeting this challenge.
